2017 Rosé

2017 Rosé

The Grenache grapes were hand picked and channeled direct to press where they remained for approximately six hours to extract color from the red grape skins. After being pressed off the skins, the beautifully colored juice was racked to a stainless steel tank for fermentation, preserving the fresh aromatics and expressive flavors of the fruit.

Displaying a gorgeous rose color, this wine offers fresh aromas of strawberry rhubarb and red raspberry with an elegant touch of minerality. The flavors express classic Grenache character with juicy berry and floral notes. The wine is capped with a crisp, refreshing finish.

Vineyard Notes
Black Jack Vineyard is owned and farmed by the Rava family, a third-generation farming family. Ideally situated on a gentle slope of the Santa Lucia range in Monterey County, the vineyard enjoys foggy mornings and warm days followed by late afternoon coastal breezes and chilly nights. These cool temperatures allow grapes to ripen slowly over a prolonged growing season, resulting in expressive, aromatic fruit.
Production Notes

After being pressed off the skins, the beautifully colored juice was racked to a stainless steel tank for fermentation, preserving the fresh aromatics and expressive flavors of the fruit.
Other Notes
Bountiful winter rainfall in 2017 helped ease a five-year drought in California, replenishing soils and boosting vine vigor. Mild spring weather brought excellent bloom and set. A heat spike in early September propelled several varietals to ripeness, speeding up the pace of harvest. Cool temperatures returned for the rest of the harvest season. Yields were average to slightly below average and quality is excellent.
